existentialism on prom night

It's a little awkward, being the only one in the family who makes or gets pop culture references.

My family's not big on the whole popular culture scene. My brother's a cross between a surfer and a prep, my granddad's my GRANDAD, so his idea of a pop culture reference is from somewhere in 1950, and my mother's never been big on the scene.

So, I'll make some witty crack about red shirts in star trek, all very amazing and with the times, and I'll get a blank look. I guess I'm lucky that a couple of my friends get them, but my sense of humour is so different from everyone else's, so blah. blah blah blah. I had an intelligent post to make here and it ran away. Have this one instead.
